Most of these scholarships reoccur on an annual basis and tend to have similar requirements as well as opening and closing dates for their applications year after year. Review the scholarships below to start compiling a list of scholarships you can apply for next year.

(Membership) - The Champions for Change (CFC) program is a Native youth leadership initiative designed to highlight positive stories of impact from Indian Country. Champions enter a close working relationship with CNAY that begins with a series of recognition events in Washington DC in the spring.

($10,000-$30,000) - STEM (Air & Climate) contest for grades 6-12. This challenge is an educational program and contest designed to inspire and empower students to learn about the environment and take action to improve it.

Serve WA is now accepting nominations for awards to recognize and celebrate exceptional volunteers in communities all across the state.

Open to 9-12 graders. Create a TV commercial targeted at middle school students to warn them about the dangers of underage drinking. Win scholarship money & trophies, have fun, & gain valuable experience. The grand prize-winning commercial will be broadcast on TV & the team that created it will work w/ Pluto Post & the Detroit Auto Dealers Education Foundation to upgrade their spot for air. 

Full scholarship for Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian rising HS junior/seniors. Spend 3-weeks on the George Washington University campus to learn about intergovernmental relations between tribal governments and the federal government. Includes room and board, travel, materials and more. 

($1,500) - Ron Herndon Scholarship (Up to six, one-time awards)
• Current senior high school student who will attend a four-year university or college for the 2017-2018 academic year. 
• High school GPA of 2.0- 3.5 
• Reside in Oregon or SW Washington
• African/African American/African Diaspora/Black/Afro Decent
• Demonstrate financial need

Each year, the Colin Higgins Foundation salutes and celebrates courage in the face of adversity and discrimination by awarding $15,000 individual grants to:

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two Spirit, Queeand Questioning youth activists (through age 20) who have transformed their experiences with bigotry and discrimination into opportunities to inspire others by taking action, rallying support, building community, and working to change the systems and institutions that impact their lives.

Colin Higgins Youth Courage Award winners receive: an individual grant of $15,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to attend the National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change presented by the National LGBTQ Taskforce in 2021.

Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program's three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, currently enrolled as a student in high school or college in the US, and be a legal resident of the United States.

General Education Grantees receive up to $5,000 over a one-year period to pay for tuition, mandatory fees, and required books and supplies at the approved Washington college or university of their choice. For females 18 and older.

Open to incoming and current college students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay on a topic related to distracted driving.

We created our Opportunity Scholarship for DREAMers who live in states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities.  We call these states locked-out states.

The National Scholarship Award will cover your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $16,500 for an associate degree and $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree, at one of our Partner Colleges. Please note, some Scholars may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $4,000 (or $1,000 per year) for books, supplies, and transportation. 

The award is renewable each year – you simply have to meet the continuing eligibility criteria.

Note: We do not offer our Scholarship to DREAMers in California or Washington state because of the availability of generous state and institutional aid.
