ACTE’s CTE Month 2017 Video Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest is open! This contest offers CTE students the chance to create videos that inform viewers of the value of career and technical education while simultaneously showcasing the great work students are doing in their own schools. This year’s video will make use of the CTE Month 2017 tagline, “Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow!”

Applicants must:

Pledging 101:
The Basics of Collegiance

1. Who can pledge? Only current high school seniors in the U.S. who will be attending a 2- or 4-year U.S. college or university in 2017 are eligible to win.

2. The standard legal stuff. Any music, images, or footage included in your video must be original. You may not use any materials published by a third party that might infringe on third-party rights.

3. Be kind. Your video must be suitable for public viewing—it must not contain any pornography, nudity, or sexually explicit imagery; obscene, hateful, demeaning offensive, or abusive imagery or language; harassing, disparaging, or defamatory content; or any other type of indecent content that portrays or encourages illegal activity.

($1,250) - The Hexter & Baines’ scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution. Applicants need to submit a 500-1000 word response to the essay topics available on the scholarship website.

Ron Herndon Scholarship (Six $1,500-$2,000 awards)
• Current senior high school student who will attend a four-year university or college for the 2017-2018 academic year. 
• High school GPA of 2.0- 3.5 
• Reside in Oregon or SW Washington
• African/African American/Black/Afro Decent
• Demonstrate financial need

For young people who have demonstrated exemplary voluntary service to their communities. Max. award: $1,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. Eligibility: Students grades 5-12 who have conducted a volunteer service activity within the past year.

AACE International offers competitive scholarships to North American and International students pursuing a program of study related to cost engineering/cost management. Awards are available in various amount, to a maximum of $2500.

NOTE:  AACE has suspended the scholarship competition to allow the committee responsible for administering the program, the Education Board, to free resources and focus solely and development and updates of educational products.  The application will reopen in January 2022.  

For Native American residents of Clackamas, Multnomah or Washington counties in Oregon or Clark County in Washington, who are seeking a post-secondary degree in science, computer science, engineering or math. Opens in Nov.

$25,000 Minimum Grant. Requires nomination.  The Youth Award recognizes a young person under the age of 21 who has made significant contributions in the lives of other children. Our Award honors this young leader at an annual Awards Ceremony and grants them funds to elevate their work.

The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children & Youth provides scholarship assistance to students who are homeless or have experienced homelessness. NAEHCY will award a minimum of four (4) $2,000 scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year.

($10,000-$30,000) - STEM (Land & Water) contest for grades 6-12. This challenge is an educational program and contest designed to inspire and empower students to learn about the environment and take action to improve it.
