College Goal Washington

College Goal Washington is a free, on-site program that helps students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA), the forms required to apply for financial assistance for postsecondary education. Students receive step-by-step instructions for successfully completing and submitting their FAFSA or WASFA.
This resource guide is designed to assist college access professionals who work with high school students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ). The information provided has an emphasis on supporting transgender youth who plan to continue their education at a postsecondary institution.
Dr. Cristina Gaeta presented this topic at the Washington State GEAR UP Year 6 Planning Workshops. It featured an overview of how to develop a college and career binder.
This binder system can be used with high school seniors to help them stay organized during the college and financial aid application process. This manual provides guidance on how to assemble the binder, provides examples, and explains the rationale.
